Our services: specialist planning for security systems and installations
From threat analysis through design to acceptance, manufacturer-independent in every project phase.
Our core competencies
We do not plan security, communications and information technology side by side, but as one connected portfolio.
- Security technologySecurity concepts, threat analyses and the specialist planning of every security trade.
- Hazard detection technologyFire alarm and voice alarm systems and intrusion detection technology, planned to DIN, VDE and VdS.
- Video securityVideo security systems, from AI-assisted detection to audit-proof recording.
- Access managementZoning and locking concepts, and electronic, mechanical and hybrid access solutions.
- TelecommunicationsConnections, carrier management, multi-site networking and FTTx, the discipline PLANATEL began with in 1992.
- Communication systemsTelephony, IP and cloud telephony, unified communications, contact centres and voice services.
- Information technologyNetworks, data centres and IT infrastructure, today an integral part of every security solution.
- Security management & control roomsOverarching management systems (PSIM) that bring every trade together on one interface.
How we work: planning in comprehensible phases
Every project must be planned carefully, in a relationship of trust with the client. Over many years of project experience we have developed approaches that we apply as the basis of our project planning. This is how we ensure your goals are met.
The concept we develop for you is as individual as your requirements. A thorough analysis of your company’s needs and a review of the existing installation and maintenance contracts is followed by a comparison of the as-is and target states.
In the next step we develop a holistic concept that takes account of both the technical requirements and the commercial possibilities and objectives. In close coordination with you, the detailed design takes shape, from which implementation ultimately follows.
As part of our manufacturer-independent tendering and award management, we prepare the tender documents, make the bids comparable and support the award decision. In this way we arrive at a solution matched to your needs.
Every phase of the planning is transparent and comprehensible to you, as is our remuneration. Invoicing is on the basis of the HOAI (the German fee scale for architects and engineers), as a fixed price, or at an agreed day rate.
- 1As-is survey & needs analysis
- 2Security concept (target design)
- 3Detailed design & specification of services
- 4Manufacturer-independent tender & award
- 5Site supervision
- 6Acceptance & review of the final invoice
Our planning follows the project phases of the HOAI. The result is a precise specification of services on which installers can bid reliably, and a site supervision that ensures the commissioned work is actually delivered as specified.
Optimisation: success that pays for itself
Your goal is to obtain the optimal technology at minimal cost. Our aim is to take you there. To achieve it, we look at the development of your company and its requirements for communications and security technology, both retrospectively and with a view to the future.
The overriding principle in everything that follows is absolute neutrality and independence from manufacturers, suppliers and vendors. This stance guarantees that our recommendation is made solely on the basis of the facts relevant to your business.
The commercial advantages we achieve for you are not aimed at reducing headcount, but solely at introducing the right technology at an economical price. Our motivation: a high degree of cost reduction for you, because our fee is a share of the savings we actually obtain on your behalf. You therefore take no risk with us.
We offer optimisation in particular for existing maintenance and servicing contracts in security technology and telecommunications.
Project management: protecting your internal resources
Implementing complex technical solutions is shaped by widely varying scenarios and conditions. Effective project management is therefore essential to success. PLANATEL offers you experienced project managers with many years of project experience. We take on project management as part of our planning and consulting services and, on request, as a standalone service within our service areas.

Frequently asked questions about our services
Which project phases does PLANATEL plan to?
Our planning follows the project phases of the HOAI, the German fee scale for architects and engineers, from basic evaluation through detailed design and tendering to site supervision.
How does PLANATEL invoice?
Transparently and agreed in advance: on the basis of the HOAI, as a fixed price, or at an agreed day rate. For optimisation we work on a success basis: our fee is a share of the savings actually achieved.
What is the difference between a security concept and a design?
A security concept describes what you need: risks, protection objectives and measures, for example “an intrusion detection system is required for this area”. A design describes exactly how: which system, in which location, with which performance characteristics, through to the specification of services on which installers can bid.
Does PLANATEL take on project management on its own?
Yes. Within our service areas we also take on project management as a standalone service, without an accompanying planning project. Beyond that, project management and quality assurance are an integral part of every planning and consulting project at PLANATEL.
Does PLANATEL also support implementation?
Yes, through site supervision: we steer, monitor and check the executing installer on behalf of the client, from concept through to a functioning, accepted installation. The installation itself remains with the installer. Our oversight therefore stays independent.
Can I terminate my maintenance or rental contract with the installer?
That depends on the existing contract: as part of the optimisation we review the term, notice periods and scope of services, and then set out your alternatives.
How can I reduce my running costs?
We examine the quality of the maintenance performed, and review and analyse the associated maintenance contracts. In an optimisation, our fee is a share of the savings actually achieved.
