What is a security concept?
A security concept is the phase that precedes any security planning. Together with you, we analyse your processes, properties and workflows in workshops, assess threat risks quantitatively and qualitatively, and define protection objectives. The result is a multi-page target concept, the basis for all further planning processes, or for your own internal decisions.
Who needs the concept afterwards varies: the security or specialist department as a working basis, management and investors as a basis for the decision to invest, operators of critical infrastructure as evidence towards authorities and inspectors, building owners as the dividing line between structural and technical measures, and public sector clients as the product-neutral basis of the later tender.
Whether your organisation speaks of a threat analysis, a risk assessment or a risk analysis, the same thing is meant: the systematic examination of which risks your company is exposed to, and which structural, organisational and security-related measures adequately counter them.

From concept to design
A security concept answers the question of what is required, for instance “for this risk you need an intrusion detection system”, or “cameras are to be provided at these points on the site”. The subsequent design answers exactly how: which system, in which location, with which protection objective and which performance characteristics, through to the specification of services for the tender. You receive both from PLANATEL from a single source, or just the concept phase on request.

Frequently asked questions about security concepts
What is the difference between a Gefährdungsanalyse and a Gefährdungsbeurteilung?
In practice both German terms are used synonymously (some organisations also say “risk analysis”). What is meant is the systematic assessment of threat risks as the basis of a security concept. Important: the Gefährdungsbeurteilung under the German Occupational Health and Safety Act is a different matter. We do not offer occupational safety services.
How is a security concept produced?
In workshops with those responsible on your side, we analyse processes and properties, define protection objectives and derive measures. We agree the form and depth flexibly with you; the result is a multi-page target concept.
Can an installer bid on the basis of a security concept?
Only to a limited extent. A concept is deliberately open as to solution. Robust, comparable bids require a design with a specification of services. We produce that afterwards.
